Centre looking to hike import duty on bulk drugs, in bid to boost local manufacturing

The department of pharmaceuticals (DoP) is mulling the proposal as it
pushes to make India self-reliant on APIs. A committee of experts
formed by the DoP has suggested increasing the customs duty on APIs by
10 percent.

Mylan gets DCGI nod for anti-tuberculosis drug Pretomanid for conditional access

The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved Pretomanid
for conditional access under the National Tuberculosis Elimination

Human clinical trials of Gennova’s mRNA COVID-19 vaccine to start by the end of this year

Pune-based biotechnology company Gennova Biopharmaceuticals will soon
start human clinical trials of a Covid-19 vaccine candidate, joining
Bharat Biotech, Zydus Cadila and many global peers in the race for a
vaccine against the pandemic. Gennova is the first Indian company that
is working on an mRNA vaccine platform that US-based biotech company
Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine candidate is based. Gennova CEO Sanjay
Singh shared the company's plans with ET's Divya Rajagopal in an

Seven Indian pharmaceutical companies race to develop vaccine for deadly coronavirus

Bharat Biotech, Serum Institute, Zydus Cadila, Panacea Biotec, Indian
Immunologicals, Mynvax and Biological E are among the domestic pharma
firms working on the coronavirus vaccines in India. Vaccines normally
require years of testing and additional time to produce at scale, but
scientists are hoping to develop a vaccine within months.

Aim to gain market share, protect supply chain, preserve cash amid COVID-19 uncertainties: Sun Pharma

"Our endeavour will be to gain market share in each of our business by
doing better. Despite the near-term uncertainties related to COVID-19,
we hope to be able to do better consistently," Sun Pharmaceutical

Zydus Cadila gets final approval from USFDA to market generic tension headache tablets

The company has received final approval from the United States Food
and Drug Administration (USFDA) to market Butalbital, Acetaminophen
and Caffeine tablets in strengths of 50mg/325mg/40 mg, Zydus Cadila
said in a statement. The drug will be manufactured at Nesher Pharma's
manufacturing facility at St. Louis in the US, it added.
